Michael Ionescu

PROFILE

Michael Ionescu is an engineer, lawyer (Ontario) and technical patent consultant who joined Brouillette Legal’s intellectual property team in 2019.

Michael specializes in mechanical engineering and his practice includes the preparation and prosecution of domestic, U.S. and foreign patents as well as industrial designs. He additionally specializes in the patentablity assessment of new technologies and the management of existing patent portfolios. Michael also has experience in preparing patent infringement and validity opinions in Canada and the United States.
Intellectual property allows him to combine his passions for engineering, entrepreneurship and law. He is dedicated toworking with companies in order to bring their ideas to market while providing them with the protection that intellectual property rights offer.

Michael Ionescu is valued for his collaborative and detail-oriented approach.
Previously, during his studies, Michael was part of a research group on computational fluid dynamics and, in particular, far-field approximations of aerodynamic drag.

Me Fauteux joined the Brouillette Legal team in 2020 and practices in the business, commercial and corporate law department.

Having a great intellectual curiosity, Gabrielle was drawn to the diversity and complexity offered by the legal world. Her role as a lawyer gives her the opportunity to help and advise people and to contribute to society in a meaningful and rewarding way.

She is thrilled to have the chance to participate and collaborate with clients to help them build their projects, bring their ideas to life and overcome the challenges they face, while protecting their interests.

Isaac Pouliot

PROFILE

Isaac Pouliot joined the Brouillette Legal team in 2019 and practices in the intellectual property department, more specifically in the field of patents.

In particular, he supports innovative and technological companies in their efforts to protect intellectual property. As such, Isaac Pouliot uses his multidisciplinary skills to allow clients to produce and market their inventions and their products with peace of mind.

Among other things, he has drafted and prosecuted patent applications in areas such as mechanical, electrical, pharmaceutical and computer inventions.

Isaac Pouliot is recognized for his meticulous approach coupled with attentive listening and down to earth communication that allows him to help clients put in place the optimal protection according to their needs.

Before joining Brouillette Legal, Isaac practiced as a project manager and methods agent in aerospace and was also a supply chain consultant.

Simon-Pierre Sirois

PROFILE

Simon-Pierre Sirois joined the team of Brouillette Legal in 2020 and practices business, commercial and corporate law.

He assists young entrepreneurs in the constitution and organization of their business. He also assists companies in their acquisitions, mergers or reorganizations as well as setting up partnerships.

Me Sirois is interested in the negotiation, drafting and analysis of exploitation, marketing, licensing, use and distribution contracts related to intellectual property.

Me Sirois also guides clients in the direct selling field. He jknows how to advise these companies in commercialisation of the products, obtaining or renewing necessary licenses, and offers a variety of services to help them implement their business plan in Canada.

Me Sirois is recognized for his pragmatic, organized, rigorous and above all strategic approach.

Robert Brouillette

PROFILE

Robert Brouillette understands the needs of entrepreneurs, being entrepreneurial himself.

A majority of his clients are business builders and operate technological enterprises.

He has become a leading Canadian expert in the fields of intellectual property and startups and their financing.

By training, he is a lawyer, a civil engineer and a patent and trademark agent. He holds an engineering degree from University of Sherbrooke (1972) and a law degree from University of Laval (1975). He is a member of the Quebec Order of Engineers. He is an accredited trademark and patent agent in Canada and the US.

He began his career with Ogilvy Renault in 1977. He co-founded BCF in 1992. Mr. Brouillette more recently founded Brouillette Legal inc. a Law, Patent and Trademark agency firm focussing on Entrepreneurs and Innovators.

He is a past Chair of the board of Anges Québec (an angel investor group) and a current director of Anges Quebec Capital. Also, he has invested as an angel investor/mentor in over 50 start-ups.

His career makes him a man passionate about entrepreneurship and very accessible.

Mr. Brouillette is a former president of the executive of the national Intellectual Property Law section of the Canadian Bar Association. He is a member of different associations operating in the field of intellectual property and direct selling including the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada, the Licensing Executive Society, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, INTA, DSA (Canada and USA) and Réseau Action TI.

He is currently a member of the board of directors of Anges Quebec Capital and of a number of companies including: Intelia, Mondias Naturals, Newtrax and E2Metrix. He is a former member of the board of directors of a number of companies including iWeb, Simsmart, Hydro-Quebec and of HQ Capitech and of HQ Industech.

In addition to being involved with Anges Québec, Robert Brouillette is also very active in the community of young entrepreneurs, to whom he regularly offers mentorship.

Audrey is a Trademark agent and has been part of the Brouillette Legal team since 2020.

Her daily mission is to advise and assist clients in order to ensure optimal protection of their trademarks in Canada, the United States and internationally.

Philippe Brouillette

PROFILE

Philippe Brouillette is an engineer, lawyer, trademark agent and entrepreneur. Over the years, Philippe was involved in custom IT application development startups and online services projects related to self-employed and crowdfunding accounting.

He also helps SMEs and startups in building their intellectual property strategy, obtaining patents, industrial designs and/or trademarks and advise them in the field of business law, technology law and computing.
