Mathieu Audet

Mathieu Audet is a patent agent and a graduate in Mechanical Engineering from University de Sherbrooke. He has more than 15 years of experience in the field of patents and industrial designs in Canada, the United States and the European Community.

Mathieu has extensive experience in product development; he worked for the transportation equipment manufacturer Bombardier Inc. and as a director in various other companies. Having taken full account of the importance of patents in the creative process and in business strategies, he has shifted from product development to the field of patents.

He worked for several years at Bombardier Recreational Products, where he was responsible for the Advanced Design Group intellectual property activities and was responsible for various other development teams.

Subsequently, he worked in intellectual property for some of the major Canadian law firms. His responsibilities ranged from traditional intellectual property work to supporting creative teams by integrating intellectual property issues into the development process and in their strategies. His expertise, based on a unique practical experience, allows him to offer sophisticated strategies to companies.

In addition to assisting clients, Mathieu is also a prolific inventor, responsible for about a hundred patents bearing his name.

Catherine Gosselin

PROFILE

Catherine Gosselin joined the team of Brouillette Legal in 2016 and practices business, commercial and corporate law.

She assists young entrepreneurs in the constitution and organization of their business. She also assists companies in their acquisitions, mergers or reorganizations as well as setting up partnerships.

Catherine also supports technology companies in the commercialization and the protection of their intellectual property. As such, Catherine Gosselin has expertise in the negotiation, writing and analysis of various contracts related to intellectual property; operation, marketing, license, use and distribution contracts.

Finally, this young woman guide clients in the direct selling field. In fact, she has expertise in marketing the products, obtaining or renewing necessary licenses, and offers a variety of services to help them implement their business plan in Canada.

Camille Miconnet

PROFILE

Camille Miconnet joined Brouillette Legal as a lawyer after completing her internship at the Bar. Her practice focuses on civil and commercial litigation, intellectual property and business law.

She began her professional career in Paris in 2011, where she practiced for three years in an IP law firm.

After moving to Montreal in 2014, Camille resumed her law studies in order to practice in Quebec. She was admitted to the Montreal Bar in 2016 after successful completion of the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B).

Camille also holds a french legal training : she holds a Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property Law – Design Law, obtained with honours in France. Her Master’s thesis « Le vin français, entre tradition, modernité et Nouveau Monde » was rewarded.

Robert Brouillette

PROFILE

Robert Brouillette understands the needs of entrepreneurs, being entrepreneurial himself.

A majority of his clients are business builders and operate technological enterprises.

He has become a leading Canadian expert in the fields of intellectual property and startups and their financing.

By training, he is a lawyer, a civil engineer and a patent and trademark agent. He holds an engineering degree from University of Sherbrooke (1972) and a law degree from University of Laval (1975). He is a member of the Quebec Order of Engineers. He is an accredited trademark and patent agent in Canada and the US.

He began his career with Ogilvy Renault in 1977. He co-founded BCF in 1992. Mr. Brouillette more recently founded Brouillette Legal inc. a Law, Patent and Trademark agency firm focussing on Entrepreneurs and Innovators.

He is a past Chair of the board of Anges Québec (an angel investor group) and a current director of Anges Quebec Capital. Also, he has invested as an angel investor/mentor in over 50 start-ups.

His career makes him a man passionate about entrepreneurship and very accessible.

Mr. Brouillette is a former president of the executive of the national Intellectual Property Law section of the Canadian Bar Association. He is a member of different associations operating in the field of intellectual property and direct selling including the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada, the Licensing Executive Society, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, INTA, DSA (Canada and USA) and Réseau Action TI.

He is currently a member of the board of directors of Anges Quebec Capital and of a number of companies including: Intelia, Mondias Naturals, Newtrax and E2Metrix. He is a former member of the board of directors of a number of companies including iWeb, Simsmart, Hydro-Quebec and of HQ Capitech and of HQ Industech.

In addition to being involved with Anges Québec, Robert Brouillette is also very active in the community of young entrepreneurs, to whom he regularly offers mentorship.

PROFILE

Philippe Brouillette is an engineer, lawyer, trademark agent and entrepreneur. Over the years, Philippe was involved in custom IT application development startups and online services projects related to self-employed and crowdfunding accounting.

He also helps SMEs and startups in building their intellectual property strategy, obtaining patents, industrial designs and/or trademarks and advise them in the field of business law, technology law and computing.

Stéphanie Brouillette

Stéphanie joined the firm in January 2005 as a trademark agent trainee. She was appointed trademark agent in May 2009.

She is currently Director of the trademarks’ department. She oversees the operations related to the preparation, filing and completion of applications for registration, research on availability, opposition and cancellation proceedings in Canada and abroad.

Stéphanie is also the Director of Marketing and Communications of Brouillette Legal. In this capacity, her mandate is to advise management on the development of a communication strategy. She is also responsible of the business development strategy.

She manages the firm’s internal and external communications, branding, sponsorship, advertising, events, production of promotional material, internal and external communication tools, development and maintenance of the website, organization of conferences and seminars, and much more.

As a passionate photographer, Stéphanie always makes sure to capture all the highlights of the firm.

Magali Fournier

PROFILE

Me Magali Fournier has joined Brouillette Legal on November 1st, 2011. She is called upon to represent a variety of clients in different law fields, from best known such as civil and commerical litigation, to more elaborate such as Intellectual Property litigation, before all Quebec legal and administrative tribunals. She was involved in several substantial cases, some of which have required several months of hearing.

Me Fournier has always been very involved in the Bar affairs. In 2003, she was president of the Young Bar Association of Montreal and has served in various decision-making committees of the Bar of Montreal (council) and of the Bar of Quebec (Administrative Committee and General Council). Over the years, she has been, and still is, a member of several committees of the Bar of Montreal and the Bar of Quebec. In 2014, she was elected first councillor of the Bar of Montreal. She was also appointed Bâtonnière of Montreal for the year 2015-2016.

Me Fournier is also a member of the Bar of Quebec and an honorary life member of the Young Bar Association of Montreal.

Me Fournier has been invited as a guest speaker on several occasions on various topics, including the Mareva injunctions, practice and finance management, and the composition of boards under the new law on child care services.

Me Fournier has given interviews to journalistic medias on the functioning of the justice system, on her presidency at the Young Bar Association of Montreal and on some of her mandates.

Some of her interviews have been published in daily newspapers and journals, including the «National magazine» which is the journal of the Canadian Bar Association. Other of her interviews have been televised or broadcasted. In addition, she has participated as a lawyer guest in the television program «Place publique» aired on Radio-Canada.
